Seattle Arts & Lectures Presents Helen Oyeyemi

At only 31, Helen Oyeyemi is among the best and brightest of young British writers, with five novels to her name. Born in Nigeria and raised in London, England, she wrote her first book, The Icarus Girl (2005), while still a student studying for her A levels. She is also the author of Boy, Snow, Bird and Mr. Fox. Her most recent book What is Not Yours Is Not Yours, is a spellbinding collection of intertwined stories all involving locks and keys, literal and metaphorical. The Independent calls Oyeyemi “A writer we should be delirious to have as a contemporary.”

Based in London, England, his music combines elements of jazz, a cappella, groove, folk, trip-hop, classical, Brazilian music, gospel, soul and improvisation. Jacob released his debut album, In My Room, worldwide on July 1st, 2016. The album shot to #1 on iTunes Jazz in 23 countries and won Collier two Grammys.
