Press Release:

COMPOSER ANDREW NORMAN POSTPONES WORLD PREMIERE OF CELLO CONCERTO SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 21 & 23

Press Release:

Tuesday, 24 April, 2018

CELLIST JOHANNES MOSER WILL INSTEAD PERFORM WORKS BY JOHN WILLIAMS ON THE ALL-AMERICAN PROGRAM

SEATTLE, WA – Composer Andrew Norman and the Seattle Symphony announce the postponement of the world premiere of Norman’s Cello Concerto, originally scheduled for June 21 and 23, 2018, with Johannes Moser as soloist. Instead of the premiere, Moser will perform John Williams’ Elegy for solo cello and orchestra and selections from Memoirs of a Geisha. The remainder of this all-American program remains as scheduled with Leonard Bernstein’s Overture to Candide and Aaron Copland’s grand Symphony No. 3.

Ticketholders are being notified of the program change. The premiere is postponed indefinitely.

Andrew Norman shared, “While I regret postponing the scheduled first performances of my new concerto with soloist Johannes Moser and the Seattle Symphony, I believe that artistic excellence must take precedence over timeliness in the creative process. I very much look forward to sharing the piece, in its full and final form, with Seattle audiences at a date in the near future.”
