The Bearded Ladies Cabaret is a troupe of cabaret artists who insist that art can be both intellectual and accessible, entertaining and meaningful, stupid good, and just plain stupid. We fuse cabaret and theater to tackle the politics of gender, identity, and artistic invention with sparkle and wit.
The Bearded Ladies have collaborated with The Wilma Theater, Opera Philadelphia, The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Eastern State Penitentiary. We have performed for audiences both intimate and expansive, in shows ranging from our signature cabaretplays at the Wilma Theater to the enormous Bastille Day Cabaret for an audience of up to 8,000 at Eastern State Penitentiary each summer.
The Bearded Ladies love our audiences and are always striving to build and diversify them. We accompany each show with free street performances in neighborhoods and city parks near our theaters in order to bring new audiences to our work and to the theater.
